Description
Purpose-built for the most demanding industrial and commercial flooring environments, our broad rib rubber matting delivers a powerful combination of anti-fatigue comfort, chemical resistance, noise dampening, and heavy-duty durability — all in one robust, easy-to-install solution available by the linear metre across the UK. The distinctive wide-spaced broad rib profile provides reliable underfoot grip, efficiently channels away liquids and debris from the walking surface, and creates a comfortable, cushioned standing surface that reduces physical strain for workers on their feet for extended periods.
Key Features & Benefits
- Broad Rib Anti-Slip Profile — The bold, widely-spaced raised rib pattern delivers strong directional grip underfoot and channels water, oils, and other liquids away from the walking surface efficiently. This makes broad rib matting particularly effective in wet processing areas, washdown zones, food production facilities, and any environment where liquid contamination of the floor is a regular occurrence.
- Anti-Fatigue Comfort — The inherent cushioning properties of the rubber compound reduce the impact transmitted to feet, ankles, knees, and lower back during prolonged standing. Improving worker comfort directly contributes to better focus, reduced fatigue, and improved productivity across long shifts.
- Oil & Chemical Resistance — Resistant to oils, fuels, greases, and a broad range of common industrial chemicals, making this matting a dependable choice for engineering workshops, automotive service areas, manufacturing facilities, and other environments where chemical floor contamination is a daily challenge.
- Effective Noise & Vibration Dampening — The dense rubber construction absorbs and attenuates impact noise and vibration generated by machinery, heavy equipment, and foot traffic, helping to create a safer, quieter, and more comfortable working environment.
- Forklift & Heavy Load Rated — This industrial-grade matting is engineered to withstand forklift traffic, pallet truck wheels, and heavy static loads without deforming, cracking, or losing its structural integrity — making it a reliable choice for warehouse aisles, loading bays, and production line walkways.
- Heavy-Duty Long-Life Construction — Manufactured from premium rubber compound built to endure the rigours of continuous heavy commercial and industrial use. Resistant to wear, compression, and tearing for a dependable, long service life.
- Easy to Cut & Install — Can be trimmed to any required length using a sharp utility knife and straight edge. No specialist equipment, adhesives, or professional fitting required for most applications.
- Sold by the Linear Metre — Order the exact quantity required for your project, minimising waste and giving you precise control over material costs. Available in four thicknesses to suit the demands of your specific application.
- UK Stock — Free Nationwide Delivery — Held in stock in the UK and despatched promptly for fast nationwide delivery. Free UK delivery included on qualifying orders.

Installation Guide
- Ensure the subfloor is thoroughly clean, level, dry, and free from grease, oil, and loose debris prior to laying
- For loose-lay or temporary installations, unroll the matting, trim to the required length, and position in place — the weight and rubber grip of the matting will hold it securely under normal use
- For permanent or high-traffic installations, apply a compatible contact adhesive evenly to both the subfloor and the underside of the matting, allow both surfaces to become tacky, then press firmly and evenly into position
- Allow 24–48 hours for the rubber to acclimatise to room temperature before fitting, particularly in cold or newly heated environments
- Trim to your exact required length using a sharp utility knife guided along a firm, stable straight edge
- Leave a 3–5mm expansion gap around walls, fixed structures, machinery bases, and door thresholds to accommodate natural thermal movement
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between broad rib and fine ribbed rubber matting?
Broad rib matting features wide, bold, widely-spaced ribs that provide strong directional grip and superior liquid drainage between the ribs — making it ideal for wet environments, washdown areas, and industrial settings where efficient floor drainage is important. Fine ribbed matting has closely-spaced narrow ribs and is better suited to drier, more aesthetically sensitive environments such as foyers, entrance areas, and corridors where a cleaner, more uniform appearance is preferred.
Can forklifts and pallet trucks drive over broad rib rubber matting?
Yes — this industrial-grade rubber matting is designed and rated to withstand forklift and pallet truck traffic. For specific high-frequency or high-load applications, we recommend the 5mm or 6mm thickness options for maximum durability and resistance to surface compression over time.
What chemicals can broad rib rubber matting resist?
This matting offers strong resistance to oils, fuels, greases, hydraulic fluids, and most mild industrial chemicals commonly encountered in workshop, automotive, and manufacturing environments. It is not recommended for use in areas with direct, sustained contact with concentrated acids, strong ketones, or chlorinated solvents. If you have specific chemical exposure concerns, please contact our technical team before ordering.
Is broad rib rubber matting ESD safe?
Standard broad rib rubber matting is not ESD (electrostatic discharge) safe and is not suitable for use in electronic assembly or sensitive component handling areas. If you require anti-static flooring, please contact our team for guidance on suitable ESD-rated alternatives.
How do I clean broad rib rubber matting?
For routine maintenance, sweep away loose debris and mop with warm water and a mild detergent solution. In areas with oil or grease contamination, use a purpose-made degreaser with a stiff brush and rinse thoroughly with water. The broad rib channels allow water to drain effectively, making cleaning straightforward even in heavily used industrial areas. Avoid petroleum-based solvents or harsh abrasive cleaners.
