Description
3mm penny pattern (coin stud) rubber flooring, cut to the length you need and sent as one continuous piece. The raised round studs give grip underfoot, lift your feet clear of water and grit, and stand up to boots, trolley wheels and van loading. Pick a width and colour, then enter the number of metres as the quantity.
- ✔ 3mm solid rubber, standard grade (not oil resistant)
- ✔ 1.0m, 1.2m and 2.2m widths
- ✔ Cut to length from the roll, one continuous piece
- ✔ Black, Battleship Grey and Moonlight Grey
- ✔ Free UK mainland delivery from our Burnley warehouse
Is this the right studded rubber for your job?
This is our standard-grade penny matting: the right choice for vans, garages, workshops, shops and walkways where you want grip and a hard-wearing surface at a sensible price. Before you order, check these three points:
- Oil, fuel or grease on the floor? Standard rubber softens and swells with prolonged contact. Choose our oil-resistant studded rubber flooring instead.
- Need 10 metres or more? A full 10m roll usually works out cheaper per metre than a cut length.
- Forklifts, pallet trucks or heavy point loads? 3mm is a grip layer, not an impact mat. Call us and we'll recommend a thicker product.
How to order
- Choose your width and colour. We cut the length only, so pick the width that suits your space.
- Set the quantity to the number of metres you need. A quantity of 4 gives you one 4m-long piece.
- Add to basket. Your length is cut from the roll and dispatched as a single piece.
Tip: measure the longest point of the area and add 5 to 10cm for trimming. If the floor is wider than one length, lay two pieces side by side with the studs running the same way so the pattern lines up at the join.
Why penny pattern rubber?
Grip wet or dry
Raised round studs give traction underfoot, and the channels between them carry water and grit away from the sole of your boot.
Tough and long-lasting
Solid rubber takes foot traffic, dropped tools, trolleys and loading in and out of vans without tearing or curling at the edges.
Easy to fit
Cut it with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge. Lay it loose in a room, or bond it down in vans and wherever wheels turn on it.
Easy to clean, quieter underfoot
Sweep, mop or hose it down. It also deadens noise and takes the chill off a bare concrete floor.
Popular uses
- Van, pickup and trailer floors
- Garage and workshop floors
- Shop, kiosk and retail floors
- Corridors and walkways
- Stair treads, landings and ramps
- Horsebox and trailer ramps
- Utility rooms, boot rooms and sheds

Fitting and care
- Unroll the matting and leave it flat at room temperature for 24 to 48 hours so it relaxes and the roll memory drops out.
- Make sure the subfloor is clean, dry, level and free of sharp grit. Grit trapped under the mat shows through and wears the back.
- Trim to size with a sharp knife and a straight edge, cutting from the flat back for a cleaner line. Leave a 3 to 5mm gap at walls and fixed objects.
- Loose lay in rooms with little wheeled traffic. In vans, on ramps, on stairs and wherever trolleys turn, bond it down with a contact adhesive or a polyurethane flooring adhesive, and fit a nosing on stair edges.
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent. A hose or pressure washer is fine. Avoid solvents and oil-based cleaners.
FAQs
How does price per metre work?
Each unit is 1 linear metre of the width you choose. If you order a quantity of 6, you receive one continuous 6m length.
What is the longest single piece I can order?
We cut from full rolls, so any length up to a whole roll comes as one piece. If your order is longer than one roll we supply it in more than one length and confirm the split with you before dispatch. Call us if you need one unbroken run.
Is 3mm thick enough for a van floor?
Yes. 3mm is the most popular choice for van and trailer floors. It adds grip and protects the metal floor without eating into load height or fouling doors and bulkheads. Bond it down so it cannot creep under a sliding load.
Is it oil resistant?
No. This is standard-grade rubber. For garages and workshops where oil, fuel or grease ends up on the floor, use our oil-resistant studded rubber flooring.
Which colours come in which width?
1.0m wide comes in Black. 1.2m wide comes in Black, Battleship Grey and Moonlight Grey. 2.2m wide comes in Moonlight Grey.
Can it be used outdoors?
It is best suited to indoor and covered areas. For fully exposed outdoor areas, contact us and we will recommend a suitable product.
Does new rubber smell?
New rubber has a noticeable smell for the first week or two. It fades with ventilation and does not come back.
