Description

Entrance & Barrier MattingSKU Rmco-CMM-60100-DG

The Commercial Made to Measure Entrance Mat is built for shops, supermarkets, cafés, pharmacies and every other retail space where the floor takes a beating from the moment the doors open. We cut each mat to your exact measurements, any width from 50 cm to 150 cm and any length from 100 cm to 550 cm, so it fills a recessed mat well, spans a double doorway or runs the full length of a service counter with no gaps for grit and water to slip past.

Underfoot it is a dense 10 mm plush pile of twisted, heat-set regenerated nylon that scrapes dirt from shoes and locks moisture into the fibres instead of letting it track across your sales floor. It is rated 5 out of 5 for absorbency and 4 out of 5 for wear and soil resistance, which is why the same mat is specified for supermarket entrances and busy high street chains. The 100% nitrile rubber backing lies flat, resists oils and cleaning chemicals, and comes smooth for hard floors or with a gripper finish for carpet. Twelve solution-dyed colours, UV and bleach resistant, and the whole mat is machine washable.

Enter your size in the buy box and the price appears instantly. No quote forms, no waiting. Made to order in the UK and dispatched in 3 to 4 working days with free UK mainland delivery.

Why retailers choose this mat

Fits your entrance exactly
Any width from 50 to 150 cm and any length from 100 to 550 cm, in whole centimetres. No trimming on site, no overlap, no gap along the door line. Priced by area and shown instantly as you type.
Cuts slip risk where it matters
Wet floors at the door are the most common cause of slip claims in retail. A 10 mm plush pile with top-rated absorbency holds rainwater and melting slush at the threshold so polished vinyl and tiles beyond stay dry.
Built for constant footfall
Rated 4 out of 5 for wear and soil resistance. Twisted, heat-set fibres spring back after trolleys, pushchairs and thousands of pairs of shoes a day, so the mat keeps its looks for years rather than months.
Stays put, stays flat
Compression-moulded 100% nitrile rubber backing with a reinforced 2 cm border on all four sides. It will not curl, crack or creep, and the low bevelled edge lets trolleys and wheelchairs roll on and off without catching.
Wash it, do not replace it
Commercially launderable at up to 49°C, or clean in place with a carpet extractor. Solution-dyed fibres are UV and bleach resistant, so the colour survives sunny shopfronts and strong cleaning chemicals alike.
Lower whole-life cost than mat rental
A rental contract bills you every week for years. Buy once, launder in house or with your existing laundry, and the mat pays for itself in months. No contract, no minimum term, no collection days.

Where to use it in your store

Main entrance and lobby
The first line of defence. Size it to the full width of the doors and at least 1.5 to 2 metres deep so every customer takes several steps on it before reaching the sales floor.
Tills and service counters
Order a long, narrow runner to the exact length of the counter. It protects the floor where customers queue and shuffle, and gives staff a softer surface to stand on.
Chiller and freezer aisles
Condensation and defrost drips in front of refrigerated cabinets are a classic slip hazard. A made-to-measure runner along the cabinet line soaks them up and is easy to lift and launder.
Self-checkout and click-and-collect
High-dwell areas where bags, baskets and wet umbrellas gather. A mat cut to the footprint of the kiosks keeps the floor around them clean and dry.
Staff and goods entrances
Back-of-house doors see deliveries, cages and wet boots. A hard-wearing cut-to-size mat at each one stops grit being walked through stockrooms and onto the shop floor.
Recessed mat wells
Many shopfronts have a sunken well by the door that standard mats never quite fill. Measure the well, allow 5 mm clearance per side, and order the exact size. We can also supply it without the rubber border for a flush fit.

How to measure a shop entrance

Five minutes with a tape measure is all it takes
  1. Measure the clear floor space where the mat will sit, wall to wall or frame to frame, in centimetres. The size you enter is the finished size including the 2 cm border.
  2. Recessed mat well? Measure the inside of the well and subtract 1 cm from each dimension to give 5 mm clearance per side. The mat should drop in without forcing.
  3. Check door clearance. The pile is 10 mm and the border 2.5 mm. Allow at least 12 mm under any door that swings over the mat. If the gap is tighter, choose our 7 mm Slimline Entrance Mat instead.
  4. Decide how deep it should go. Cleaning-industry guidance is that most tracked-in soil and water is shed in the first few strides. For a light-traffic shop allow 1.5 to 2 m of matting; for a supermarket or busy chain store 3 m or more, which can be one long mat or an outdoor scraper mat plus this one inside.
  5. Choose smooth or gripper backing. Smooth for tiles, vinyl, wood, marble and resin. Gripper for carpet. Same price either way.
  6. Several doors or stores? Order each size as a separate line, or contact us for a multi-site quote. Widths over 150 cm are available in Dark Grey on request.

Cleaning and laundering

Keep it performing like new
  1. Daily: vacuum with a beater-bar or upright cleaner to lift dry grit before it is ground into the pile and walked through the store.
  2. Weekly in wet weather: lift, shake out and check the floor beneath is dry. Rinse off road salt so it does not build up and stiffen the fibres.
  3. Deep clean: hot-water extraction in place, or send to a commercial laundry. Wash at up to 49°C (71°C for heavily soiled mats) with a low-pH non-ionic detergent, rinse cold, extract at up to 250 G, and tumble at no more than 82°C basket temperature. All solution-dyed mats can be washed together.
  4. Dry flat and let the mat cool before rolling or returning it to service. Never put a damp mat back on the floor.
  5. Avoid solvents. Standard carpet cleaning chemicals, including those containing bleach, are fine because the fibres are bleach resistant.

Frequently asked questions

Is this mat heavy-duty enough for a supermarket or busy chain store?
Yes. It is a commercial-grade mat rated 4 out of 5 for wear and 5 out of 5 for absorbency, and the same construction is used in supermarket entrances, shopping centres and national retail chains. For extreme-traffic entrances we recommend pairing it with an outdoor scraper mat so the plush mat only has to deal with fine grit and moisture.
How is a custom size priced?
By area. Enter your width and length in the buy box and the price shows immediately, including VAT, with the ex-VAT figure alongside. A bigger mat simply costs proportionally more; there is no surcharge for odd sizes.
Can I use it in front of chillers, freezers or a fresh produce display?
Yes. A made-to-measure runner along the cabinet line is one of the most common uses in food retail. The pile holds condensation and defrost drips, the nitrile backing is unaffected by cold floors, and the mat lifts easily for laundering.
Which backing should I choose?
Smooth backing for hard floors such as tiles, vinyl, wood, marble, terrazzo and resin. Gripper backing has small cleats that bite into carpet and stop the mat creeping. Both cost the same.
Will trolleys, pushchairs and wheelchairs cross it easily?
Yes. The border is only 2.5 mm thick with a bevelled edge, so wheels roll on and off without catching. The mat stays flat under rolling loads thanks to the compression-moulded rubber backing.
Will it fit under the door?
The pile is 10 mm, so allow at least 12 mm clearance under any door that swings over it. For tighter gaps choose our 7 mm Slimline Entrance Mat.
Can I have it without the rubber border for a recessed mat well?
Yes. For built-in wells the mat can be supplied borderless so it sits flush with the surrounding floor. Add a note at checkout or contact us before ordering and we will confirm the finished size.
Is it fire rated?
Yes. The mat is classified Cfl-s1 to EN 13501-1, the standard classification required for floor coverings in most commercial premises in the UK.
Can I match it to my shop branding?
Twelve fade-resistant colours cover most schemes, from neutral greys and browns to red, blue and green. If you want your logo on the floor as well, see our Custom Logo Mats, printed to any size with a free proof.
Can I really put it in a washing machine?
Sizes that fit a commercial washer can be laundered at up to 49°C and tumble dried at up to 82°C basket temperature. Larger mats are cleaned in place with a hot-water extractor. Domestic machines are not recommended because of the weight when wet.
Why does my new mat look thinner than 10 mm?
The pile is compressed during manufacture and rolling for transport. Lay the mat flat and within a few days of use the fibres relax to their full height.
How long does a made-to-measure mat take?
Each mat is cut to order in the UK and normally dispatched within 3 to 4 working days, with free UK mainland delivery. Need it sooner? Call or WhatsApp us before ordering and we will tell you the fastest option.
Do you offer trade pricing for multiple stores?
Yes. Fitting out several branches, or need a mix of entrance, counter and aisle sizes? Use the trade quote link on this page or contact our team and we will price the whole job.

Please note: made-to-measure mats are cut to the size you enter and cannot be returned or refunded if the wrong size is ordered or you change your mind.
