Description
Your crest at the door before the first bell. School logo mats printed in your exact school colours for the main entrance, reception, the hall, corridors, year-group doors and the nursery gate. The school office designs it online in minutes and sees the price for any size as it goes, the head approves a free proof, and the mat arrives free anywhere in mainland UK with a VAT invoice for the finance office. Every mat is printed into a dense 950 g/m² polyamide pile on a non-slip vinyl backing, Cfl-s1 fire rated for public buildings, and goes in a washing machine at 30°C at half term.
Why schools, academies and nurseries order from us
- Design it yourself, in minutes: upload the crest, pick the mat colour and size, and watch the proof build on screen. No quote form, no waiting for a rep to come back to you.
- Price shown before you order: every size, including made to measure, is priced live on the page, so the order can be raised the same day the head signs it off.
- Exact school colours: give us the Pantone or HEX references from the brand guidelines, or the uniform supplier, and the mat and crest are matched to them. 16.8 million colours, no extra charge for a multi-colour crest.
- Built for small, muddy feet: 165,000 tufts per m² scrape shoes and hold up to 2.5 litres of water per m², so the lobby floor stays dry on wet mornings.
- Fire rated for your risk assessment: Class Cfl-s1 to EN 13501-1, the flooring class normally asked for in school entrances, with the classification on the downloadable specification sheet.
- No trip edge: 8 mm total with a flat 15 mm border and a non-slip backing that grips tiles, vinyl and laminate, or made borderless to drop flush into an existing matwell.
- One design or a whole set: each mat is printed individually, so four house mats in four colours, or a mat per year group or school value, cost the same as four identical mats.
- Free proof, unlimited changes: a designer checks the crest, thickens any fine lettering that would not print cleanly and emails a proof. Nothing is printed until you approve it.
- Purchase orders welcome: order online with a card, or email the PO and we send a pro-forma with the proof. A VAT invoice comes with every order, and multi-academy trusts get trade pricing across their sites.
- Ready for the start of term: made in 5–7 working days from proof approval. A 2–3 working day express service is available: call before you order and we will confirm the date.
Where schools use them
- Main entrance: 85 × 150 cm for a single door, 115 × 180 cm or wider for double doors, crest and school name facing arriving parents.
- Reception and visitor sign-in: the crest in front of the desk, where visitors stand to sign in and every inspector, governor and prospective parent sees it first.
- Hall and sports hall doors: the crest at the hall doors for assemblies, concerts and parents' evenings.
- Corridors and year-group doors: runners up to 650 cm long in one piece, or a set of mats with a house name, value or year group on each.
- Nursery and early years: a bright welcome mat in the nursery's own colours, machine washed weekly.
- Sixth form and college: a larger-format mat at the glass entrance that catches three strides of wet footprints.
- Playground doors, PE block and the nursery gate: use the rubber-backed outdoor logo mat, which has drainage channels, a UV-stable pile and hoses clean.
How it works
- Choose one of 16 standard sizes, or enter your own up to 200 cm wide and 650 cm long, and tell us whether it sits on the floor or in a matwell.
- Upload the crest (PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF, AI or EPS), pick the mat colour or give us the school's Pantone or HEX reference, and add to basket.
- Your proof arrives by email within one working day. Approve it, or ask for changes, and we start printing.
Which size do I need?
- 60 × 85 cm: classroom, office and store doors.
- 85 × 150 cm: a single entrance door or a nursery door. Our most popular school size.
- 115 × 180 cm: reception and double doors.
- 115 × 300 cm: a wide entrance, hall doors or a short corridor runner.
- 200 × 200 cm: a square lobby or a sixth-form atrium.
- Custom size: enter your own measurements above. Measure the clear floor space inside the door and leave 5–10 cm on each side. Mats are cut to order, so the finished size can vary by up to 2.5 cm per side.
- Matwell: measure the recess itself, not the doorway, allow for any metal trim, and choose "In a matwell" so we make it without the border.
Ideal for
Primary and secondary schools, academies and multi-academy trusts, independent and prep schools, sixth-form colleges, FE colleges, special schools, nurseries and pre-schools, after-school clubs, PTA fundraising and leavers' gifts.

Washing and care during term time
- Daily: the site team vacuums it with the lobby. A clean mat traps more dirt and keeps its colour longer. Blot spills with clean lukewarm water only, no detergent or stain remover.
- Half term: machine wash on a delicate cycle, low spin, never above 30°C. Wash the mat on its own with no detergent or fabric softener, unfolded, in a machine large enough for the mat.
- Drying: dry flat, out of direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry. Many schools order two and rotate them so one is always down.
Artwork tips for school crests
A vector file (SVG, PDF, AI or EPS) from the school's print or uniform supplier gives the sharpest crest. If you only have a PNG or JPG from the website or a letterhead, send the largest version you have, ideally 1,000 pixels wide or more. Our designers remove white backgrounds, thicken any fine lettering or mottos that would not print cleanly in carpet pile, and match colours as part of the free proof.
Questions from school offices and site managers
Can we order with a purchase order and pay on invoice?
Yes. Order online with a card for the fastest turnaround, or email the purchase order to sales@rubbermattingco.co.uk and we will send a pro-forma invoice with the proof. A VAT invoice is issued with every order for the finance office.
Is the mat fire rated for a school?
Yes. The mat is classified Cfl-s1 to EN 13501-1, the flooring class normally asked for in school entrances and public buildings. The classification is on the specification sheet above for your fire risk assessment file. The outdoor mat is Dfl-s1.
Will it be a trip hazard in a busy entrance?
No. The mat is 8 mm thick with a flat 15 mm border and a non-slip vinyl backing that grips tiles, vinyl and laminate, so it lies flat under hundreds of pairs of feet a day. For an existing recess, choose the matwell option and the mat is made without a border to sit flush.
How do we measure for a recessed matwell with a metal frame?
Measure the inside of the recess, not the doorway, at both ends in case it is not square, and allow for any metal trim so the mat sits inside the frame. Choose "In a matwell" in the designer and enter those measurements. All printed mats carry a tolerance of up to 2.5 cm per side.
Can you print the crest at both ends with the school name across the middle?
Yes. Upload the crest, add the school name as a text line in the designer and drag everything into place on the preview, or describe the layout in the notes and we will set it out on the proof. Any number of colours is included.
Will fine lettering and a Latin motto print clearly?
Lettering prints clearly down to about 2 cm high. Below that, thin serifs and narrow strokes can soften in carpet pile, so our designer thickens or enlarges fine text on the proof and tells you what was changed. A larger mat gives a motto more room.
Can you remove the white background from our crest?
Yes. The designer removes a white box automatically when you upload a PNG or JPG, and our designers tidy any edges by hand before the proof. A coloured background that is part of the crest is kept unless you ask us to remove it.
Can each classroom or house have its own mat?
Yes. Each mat is printed individually, so a set of four house mats in four colours, or a mat for every year-group door, costs the same as identical mats. Design each one in the designer and add them to the same basket, or email the list and we will proof them together.
Can you match our exact school colours?
Yes. Enter the Pantone or HEX reference from the school brand guidelines and the mat and print are matched to it at no extra cost. If you only have a uniform swatch or a blazer, send a photo in daylight and we will match it on the proof.
What file do you need for the crest?
Any clear logo file: PNG, JPG, PDF or SVG. A vector file from the school's print or uniform supplier gives the sharpest result, but a good-quality PNG from the website is fine for most crests. The designer warns you if the file is too small to print well.
How do we clean it during term time?
Vacuum daily and machine wash at 30°C with no detergent when it looks tired; dry flat. Most schools wash entrance mats at half term and keep a second mat down while the first dries.
How long does a school logo mat last?
The 950 g/m² polyamide pile and vinyl backing are specified for commercial entrances with heavy foot traffic. With regular washing a school entrance mat typically gives several years of service before the print softens.
What about the playground doors?
Choose the outdoor logo mat. It has a 3 mm nitrile rubber backing with moulded drainage channels, so rain runs through instead of pooling, and it will not curl, crack or fade in frost or sun. It hoses clean and machine washes at up to 50°C.
How quickly can we have it for the start of term?
Approve the proof and the mat is made and delivered within 5–7 working days. Order two weeks before the holiday ends and it will be at the door for the first day back. A 2–3 working day express service is available on request.
Do you deliver to schools in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?
