Description

Anti-Slip Safety MattingSKU Rmco-WRV-BPG-1

A safety floor built for the one place most safety floors fail: where people walk in shoes and bare feet on the same wet surface. Shower rooms, wet rooms, changing areas, poolside corridors and care home ensuites all mix soapy water, shampoo and conditioner with trainers, slippers and bare skin. This vinyl is tested against those exact contaminants and rated R11 and Class B barefoot, so it stays grippy whether the person crossing it is a swimmer, a carer or a resident in socks.

R11 + Class Bshoe and barefoot slip ratings
PTV ≥ 50wet pendulum test, low slip risk
20 coloursplains and tonal chips

Supplied from a 2 m wide roll and cut to the length you order. Joins are hot-welded with matching weld rod and the sheet can be coved up the wall with cap and cove trim, so the whole floor becomes a single sealed tray with no edges for water to get under. Comfortable underfoot, easy to clean and backed by a 15-year manufacturer guarantee.

Why this safety vinyl for wet rooms

Safe in shoes and bare feet
Most safety vinyls are rated for shoes only. This one holds R11 to DIN 51130 for footwear and Class B to DIN 51097 for bare feet, so it covers the shower, the drying area and the corridor outside in one product.
Tested with real bathroom contaminants
Water is the easy one. This floor is tested with shampoo, conditioner and body wash, the slippery films that actually cause falls in shower rooms, and keeps a pendulum value of 50 or more.
Slip resistance that lasts
The grip comes from aggregates carried through the full 2 mm wear layer, not a surface coating. It does not wear off or polish smooth after a few years of mopping.
Welded and coved for a sealed floor
Hot-weld the seams and cove the sheet 100 mm up the wall and there is nowhere for water to get beneath the floor. That is what stops the damp, smells and subfloor damage you get with tiles and grout.
Comfortable and quiet
Softer and warmer underfoot than ceramic tile, which matters for bare feet in a care setting. Suitable over underfloor heating.
Colours for contrast and design
Twenty colours across plains and tonal chips. Pair a light floor with a dark cove or shower zone to give the visual contrast that dementia-friendly and accessible design guidance asks for.

How to order

Measure the room, pick a length, add weld rod
  1. Measure the longest dimension of the room. The roll is 2 m wide, so a room up to 2 m across needs one strip the length of the room. Wider rooms need two or more strips welded side by side.
  2. Add 100 mm to each wall you plan to cove up, plus 50 mm cutting allowance per edge.
  3. Choose the cut length that covers it. Each metre of length gives you 2 m² of floor. Lengths over 5 m, or full 20 m rolls, are available by quote.
  4. Order matching weld rod for the seams and cove. Allow roughly 1 m of rod per metre of seam and per metre of coved wall.
  5. Installation should be by a flooring contractor experienced with safety vinyl. Subfloor must be smooth, dry and level, with a suitable safety-flooring adhesive.

Cleaning and care

Keep the grip working
  1. Daily: sweep or vacuum, then mop with a neutral cleaner and rinse. In showers, squeegee water to the drain after use.
  2. Weekly: machine scrub with a soft brush or use a deck brush on the texture to lift soap film and body fat from the aggregate.
  3. Do not polish, seal or apply floor finishes. They fill the texture and remove the slip resistance.
  4. Avoid solvent and pine-oil cleaners, and never use a metal scraper on the surface.

Frequently asked questions

Is this vinyl suitable for bare feet?
Yes. It is rated Class B to DIN 51097 for barefoot wet areas, as well as R11 for shoes, which is why it is specified for shower rooms, changing rooms and poolside.
How is this different from standard safety vinyl?
Most safety vinyls are rated for shoes only. This one is designed for combined shoe and barefoot use and tested with shampoo and conditioner, so it is the correct choice wherever people shower or change.
Can I order a half metre or an odd length?
Yes. Choose the nearest length above and call us, or ask for a quote for the exact cut. Minimum cut is 0.5 m.
Does it need to be welded?
For a watertight floor in a wet room, yes. Seams are hot-welded with matching rod and the sheet is coved up the wall. For a single strip in a dry changing area, welding is optional.
Can it go over underfloor heating?
Yes, with the floor temperature kept below 27°C in line with the manufacturer's guidance.
Will the slip resistance wear off?
No. The aggregate runs through the full wear layer rather than sitting on top, so the texture is still there after years of use. It is guaranteed for 15 years.
Is it the right colour for a dementia-friendly bathroom?
Choose a plain mid-tone such as Silver Grey or Steel Grey and avoid heavy speckle, then use a contrasting colour at the shower zone and cove. We can advise on light reflectance values for contrast.
Do you supply the weld rod and trims?
Yes. Call us with your colour and we will add matching weld rod, cove former and capping strip to your order.

Note: Cut lengths are made to order and cannot be returned unless faulty. Please check your measurements and request a sample if colour is critical. Need advice? Call us on 01204 961600 or use the chat and we will help you plan the floor and accessories.
