Description
Switchboard matting puts a layer of insulating rubber between the operator and the floor while they work on or near live low-voltage equipment. Our 6mm black matting is tested at 11kV and rated for a maximum working voltage of 450V (BS 921:1976). A closely ribbed top keeps footing secure in front of switchboards, control panels and distribution boards, and BS 921 marking repeats along the underside, so every cut length can be identified at inspection.

Fitting & care
- Lay the matting along the full working area in front of the panel, so the operator never stands off the mat.
- Use one continuous length where you can; avoid gaps or overlaps at joins.
- Keep the surface clean and dry, and wipe with mild soapy water. Do not use solvents or oils.
- Inspect regularly for cuts, holes, embedded metal or damage, and replace any damaged section straight away.
FAQs
What voltage is this matting suitable for?
It is tested at 11kV and rated for a maximum working voltage of 450V (BS 921:1976). For equipment up to 1,000V, choose our Class 0 matting to IEC 61111. For high voltage switchgear such as 11kV or 33kV, choose our high voltage matting, Class 1 to 4.
How is the price worked out?
The price is per linear metre. Choose your width, then set the quantity to the number of metres you need, up to a full 10m roll.
Can I join two pieces together?
One continuous length is best for insulation. If you must join pieces, butt them tightly with no gaps, and make sure the operator always stands on the matting.
Is it available in other colours or a flame-retardant grade?
Yes. Coloured and flame-retardant, low-smoke grades can be supplied to order. Call us for lead times and pricing.
