The entrance mat built for wet playtimes and 9am rush hour. When thirty pairs of shoes come through the door at once, the raised waffle surface scrapes the mud and grit off and the dense absorbent pile holds up to 6 litres of rainwater per square metre. Water stays inside the solid rubber border instead of being walked down the corridor, so floors stay drier, cleaner and far less slippery.

Designed for medium to heavy footfall in primary schools, secondary schools, nurseries, academies and colleges. The moulded rubber backing grips vinyl, tiles and wood so the mat does not creep, and the flat rubber perimeter means wheelchairs, pushchairs and trolleys roll straight over it without catching.

Fewer slips on wet days
Most slip incidents in schools happen on wet corridor floors just inside the door. Taking the water off shoes at the threshold is the simplest way to cut that risk.
Scrapes and absorbs in one pass
The raised waffle squares flex underfoot to scrape mud and grit, then the fibres between them wick the moisture away. One mat does the job of a scraper mat plus a wiper mat.

Rule of thumb: the more steps a pupil takes on the mat, the more dirt and water it removes. Two full strides, about 150 cm, is the sweet spot for a main entrance. For long lobbies, lay two mats end to end.

Cleaning and care for site staff
Two minutes a day keeps it working like new
- Vacuum daily during term time to lift dry grit out of the waffle pockets.
- After a wet day, shake out or hang over a rail to drain overnight.
- For a deep clean at half term, rinse with cold water, a hose or a pressure washer.
- Hang to dry fully before laying it back down.
- Avoid harsh detergents and bleach, which shorten the life of the fibres.
Frequently asked questions
How much water does it really hold?
Up to 6 litres per square metre. A 90 x 150 cm mat covers 1.35 m², so it can hold around 8 litres before it is saturated.
Will it cope with a whole school coming in at once?
Yes. It is rated level 3 for wear and is designed for medium to heavy traffic. For a main entrance used by several hundred pupils a day, choose the 120 x 180 cm size or lay two mats end to end.
Is it safe for wheelchairs and pushchairs?
Yes. The low profile and solid rubber border keep the mat flat, so wheels roll over it without catching. It is a sensible choice for accessible entrances.
Will it move on a polished corridor floor?
The rubber backing has moulded cleats that grip vinyl, tiles and wood. On very smooth, very wet floors nothing is completely immovable, but this backing is as good as it gets without fixing the mat down.
Does it fit under a door?
At around 10 mm it clears most external doors. If your door-to-floor gap is tighter, our 7 mm Low-Profile Entrance Mat is the one to choose.
Can it go outside the door?
It is designed for indoor use just inside the door. For the outside step, pair it with a rubber scraper mat and let this mat do the absorbing inside.
Will the colour fade or bleed onto the floor?
The fibres are solution dyed, so the colour runs all the way through and will not wash out or bleed when wet.
Does it sit in a recessed mat well?
Yes, if the well is at least 10 mm deep. Measure the well and allow 5 mm clearance on all sides so the mat lies flat.
